Hello Woodland Families!
If you are a returning Woodland family, welcome back to the 2018-19 school year! If you are new to the Woodland Elementary School family, you just entered into a very special place. Woodland is a close-knit educational community that promotes the academic and social development of all students in a safe, friendly environment. Our PAWS motto, which you will see displayed in numerous places throughout Woodland, stands for the following: Practice Kindness, Act Responsibly, Work Hard, and Show Respect.
Our dedicated staff at Woodland serves approximately 275 students in grades K-4. In addition to the core curriculum, Woodland students experience daily instruction in one of these specialty areas: art, music, physical education, library, technology and counseling.
We encourage parents and other family members to become active participants in school programs and classroom activities. Those who help regularly in the school will need to obtain the necessary background clearances (please call 330-689-5444 for more information). There are many ways to support your child, such as volunteering to help in the classroom, volunteering for the PTA or attending one of our many school programs. However, more important than volunteering is a nightly routine of reading to your child, talking about their day, and getting them prepared for the next day of school.
You may have noticed some exciting changes to our building and grounds. A new security vestibule has been installed at the front entrance in order to increase building security. Also, the combined efforts of the Woodland PTA, Lowe's, AllScapes and district maintenance staff (thanks Billy Jo and Jeff!) have resulted in a wonderful outdoor classroom space in our courtyard. Please take some time to check it out!
I am thrilled and honored to be part of such an outstanding team. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have a suggestion, concern, or just a "good story" to share! I look forward to working with you and your children!
