Minor Capital Projects

Capital projects funding is developed to address a school district's larger scale renovation or replacement needs. The program is divided into two parts - Major and Minor Capital Improvements.

Minor Capital Improvement projects address larger maintenance or equipment replacement needs. Examples of a typical Minor Capital improvement project might be a boiler replacement, roof work, or work on a set of tennis courts. Districts manage the use of Minor Capital funding in order to maintain the physical plants as required. Minor Cap Investments (MCI) also has an arm called MCI/VE. These funds are set aside to replace Vocational Education equipment as it ages not covered under the 6-District Compact. An example of a Minor Cap/VE project might be to purchase new tables in the Joshua’s area in the high school.
